I DON’T BLINDLY FOLLOW DONALD TRUMP. I THINK FOR MYSELF.
Well, congratulations.
What a profoundly selfish way to approach a team sport.
Because that is what this is, class. Not a philosophy seminar. Not a debate club where the trophy goes to whoever proves he is the most independent, the most enlightened, the most intellectually superior man in the room.
Politics is a TEAM SPORT.
And you are on a team that is fighting — bleeding — to move the football back toward the RIGHT SIDE OF THE FIELD.
THERE IS NO THIRD TEAM
Let us stop pretending otherwise.
There is no serious political team called “Independent Thinkers.”
There is no Independent Party controlling Congress.
There is no Independent quarterback standing behind center.
There is no Independent movement with the votes, the money, the organization, or the raw power required to govern this nation.
Name me one bill that passed because of the Independent caucus. Name me one judge confirmed. Name me one border secured.
I’ll wait.
In America there is a RED SIDE and a BLUE SIDE.
That is the field. Those are the teams. That is how the game is played.
So choose your side. Find your quarterback. Learn the play. Run the football where he tells you to run it.
“I VOTED FOR TRUMP — BUT I’LL HOLD HIM ACCOUNTABLE.”
Oh, will you now.
Let me make sure I have this straight.
You put on the jersey. You bought the ticket. You picked the team. And now — in the middle of the fourth quarter, with the ball in the air — you have decided that your sacred duty is to stand at the fifty-yard line and hold the quarterback accountable.
Class, ask yourself a simple question.
What kind of dummy holds the quarterback accountable IN THE GAME?
THERE IS A TIME AND A PLACE
You want to grade the quarterback? Fine. There is a place for that.
It’s called the film room. It’s called the off-season. It’s called the primary.
That is when you evaluate. That is when you critique. That is when you decide whether the man behind center still deserves the snap.
But once the whistle blows? Once the play is called? Once he is dropping back with two hundred and fifty pounds of Democrat linebacker bearing down on his blind side?
You BLOCK.
You do not tap him on the shoulder pad and hand him a performance review.
You do not run into the stands to announce how much smarter you are than the coach.
You do not throw the flag on your own man.
You block. Or you get off the field.
WHAT “ACCOUNTABILITY” REALLY MEANS AT MIDFIELD
Let us be honest about what this word has become.
“I’ll hold him accountable” is not a principle. It is a permission slip.
It’s the escape hatch of a man who wants credit from both sidelines. He wants to be counted as a conservative when it’s comfortable, and reasonable when it’s not.
He wants the win — but he does not want the blood on his jersey.
That is not accountability.
That is cowardice with a vocabulary.
WHO IS LISTENING
Here is what nobody wants to say out loud.
When you “hold him accountable” in the middle of the game, the other team hears you.
Your criticism does not land in some sterile chamber of pure political philosophy. It lands on CNN. It lands in the fundraising email. It lands in the mouth of the very people trying to take the ball, take the field, and take the country.
You didn’t hold him accountable.
You handed the other team a talking point and called it integrity.
THE PURITY TRAP
The demand for a perfect leader is not righteousness. It is sabotage wearing a halo.
The other side never asks for perfection. They asked nothing of Biden. They asked nothing of Harris. They marched behind whoever was carrying the ball — in lockstep — and they took ground while our side held a symposium on principle.
Donald Trump is not perfect. Neither are you. Neither am I.
But perfection was never the requirement for leadership. Scripture is a long parade of flawed men whom the Almighty used anyway — because He was not looking for perfect vessels. He was looking for willing ones.
The only question that matters:
Is he moving the ball toward the goal line — or handing it to the other team?
Answer that honestly, and everything else is noise.
KNOW WHICH ONE YOU’RE DOING
Nobody is asking you to worship a man. I don’t. I never have.
I am asking you to learn the difference between loyalty and idolatry — and between accountability and treason.
Loyalty says: I will block for you now, and I will grade you in the primary.
Idolatry says: He can do no wrong.
Accountability says: In the film room, we’re going to talk.
Treason says: Let me tell the whole stadium what’s wrong with my quarterback — while he’s still under center.
WHAT IT ACTUALLY COSTS
Here is the arithmetic nobody wants to do.
Every vote withheld in the name of independence is not a vote for nobody. It is half a vote for the other side.
Every conservative who sits out to keep his conscience spotless hands a margin to a man who wants your children taught things you’d blush to repeat.
You did not stay neutral.
You just switched teams quietly and kept the jersey.
PICK A SIDE
I voted Republican.
I voted for Donald Trump.
And I am not ashamed to cheer for the man carrying the football for my team.
If there is film to review, I will review it — in the film room, with my team, behind closed doors, like a man.
But while the clock is running? I block.
Put on the jersey. Put on the cheerleader outfit if you have to. Cheer for your quarterback. Help your team WIN.
Or take off that red jersey, walk across the field, and be honest about which side you’re actually helping.
But stop standing at midfield, arms crossed, criticizing every play, obstructing your own offense — and calling it “independent thinking.”
That is not courage. That is not leadership. That is not teamwork.
It is vanity in a bow tie.
PICK A SIDE.
Because while you are busy proving that you “think for yourself” —
the other team is busy taking the country.
Write it down.
And Now You Know… THE BEST of the Story.
