PART 2 — TAKE OFF THE RED JERSEY, COWARD
Professor Toto Answers a Critic of Part 1
🛑 This is PART TWO. It answers a challenge thrown at me over Part One. Read that one first, or you’ll be walking into the middle of an argument you didn’t hear the start of.
👉 READ PART ONE: “Take Off the Jersey, Coward!”
Then come back. I’ll wait.
Yesterday I told you to pick your quarterback and get behind him.
And a man wrote back to tell me I was a fool.
Professor, he said, there is no game. Both teams are the same. It’s a Uniparty. They eat at the same tables, take the same money, and send our sons to fight wars with borrowed money. NAFTA was bipartisan. The debt is bipartisan. The betrayal is bipartisan.
Pick a side? Sir, there is only ONE side.
Class — I’m going to prove him wrong.
But not the way you think.
FIRST, LET ME AGREE WITH HIM
Yes. There is a Uniparty.
I’m not going to insult that man by pretending otherwise. He’s watched this machine since Carter. He’s earned his cynicism the hard way.
There is a permanent class in Washington that never changes when the furniture changes. Red pins and blue pins at the same dinners. The same donors. The same boards. The same wars, funded with the same borrowed money that your grandchildren will be paying back.
All of it is true.
So how do I answer a man who’s right?
I DON’T. I HAND HIM THE PROOF.
Class — here is what you need to know about that Uniparty.
THEY BOTH HATE THE QUARTERBACK.
Sit with that for a second.
They impeached him. Twice. They indicted him. They raided his home. They tried to strike his name off the ballot, state after state. Senators wearing HIS colors voted to convict him.
Now — you tell me the machine is real, sir. I believe you.
So why is the machine trying to kill this one man?
They never did that to Bush. Never to Romney. Never to McCain. Those men got the courtesy you extend to a colleague at the club.
Trump got the treatment you give an intruder in the house.
And that, class, is the whole sermon.
A machine doesn’t attack its own parts.
HE PUT THE POLARITY BACK
For thirty years, that Uniparty ran a two-party country in one direction. Red or blue, the ball went the same way — left, and down.
One man put the polarity back.
Suddenly there was a RED and there was a BLUE again — and they were pulling against each other.
You want to know how I can tell?
Because BOTH sides screamed.
SO NOW LET’S TRACE THE FOOTBALL
My critic says the ball never moves. That it’s all theater. That the yardage is fake.
Fine.
Then let’s find the football.
Because a field doesn’t care about your theory. It doesn’t care how corrupt the league is or how bought the officials are.
A field only knows one thing.
WHERE IS THE BALL?
We were backed up on our own goal line.
-
Roe standing for fifty years.
-
The border wide open.
-
Our factories on a boat to China.
-
And Jerusalem — recognized in every speech and honored in none.
That was first-and-goal against us.
Then one man took the snap.
Let’s walk it down, class. Play by play.
🏈 FIRST PLAY — HE THREW DEEP.
He put three justices on the Supreme Court.
And Roe v. Wade came down.
Fifty years. An estimated sixty-three million children — that’s the National Right to Life count, and I’ll tell you whose ledger it comes from.
A precedent the priests of that Uniparty swore to your face was untouchable.
Three of the five who ended it were his.
Take away any ONE of them, and Roe is still standing this morning.
Now — I’ll give the devil his due. George W. Bush put Alito on that Court, and Alito wrote the opinion. Mitch McConnell held that Senate gate and blocked Garland for a year.
Without those two men, there is no Dobbs.
But three of those five names are Trump’s.
That’s not exclusive credit, class. That’s indispensable credit.
And indispensable is the only kind that moves a ball.
🏈 SECOND PLAY — HE BROKE THE LINE.
Class, if my critic is right — if BOTH teams want that border open, want the cheap labor, want the serfs —
then this is the play that could never work.
So look at the film.
The southwest border just recorded its quietest year since 1970. Not since the pandemic. Not since Obama.
Since Richard Nixon was in the White House.
Every single month since he took the snap: under ten thousand. The machine had forty years to produce a month like that.
It never did.
And catch-and-release — the beating heart of the whole cheap-labor operation, the policy both teams protected for forty years?
Over a solid year of ZERO releases.
That line doesn’t move for a Uniparty, class. It only moves when somebody hits it.
🏈 THIRD PLAY — HE RAN IT BACK.
My critic staked his whole case on NAFTA.
Fine. Let’s run that play back — because NAFTA is where our side fumbled.
He told me it snuck through in the dead of night, two weeks after Clinton took office.
Sir — that isn’t what happened. And the truth is worse.
It passed on November 17, 1993, in broad daylight. Roll call 575. 234 to 200.
Now look at who carried it:
132 REPUBLICANS VOTED YES.
ONLY 102 DEMOCRATS DID.
A Democrat president passed NAFTA on Republican votes.
Sir — you thought your best evidence was a bill sneaking through in the dark.
It didn’t sneak. Our own team carried it in on its shoulders.
That is your Uniparty. On the record. With its name signed to it.
You were right. You just underestimated it.
And then?
Nobody touched it for twenty-six years.
Bush signed it. Clinton passed it. Bush kept it. Obama kept it.
Four presidents. Both parties. Total silence.
Then one man went back and pried it open — and wrote a sixteen-dollar wage floor into the deal. The first wage rule ever written into an American trade agreement.
Ross Perot’s giant sucking sound finally got a number attached to it.
🏈 FOURTH PLAY — THE ONE THEY CALLED IMPOSSIBLE.
Congress passed a law in 1995 ordering the embassy moved to Jerusalem.
And here’s what’ll turn your stomach, class.
In the very same bill, Congress built the trapdoor to escape it.
A waiver. Six months at a time. “National security.”
Nobody broke that law. Nobody had to. The escape hatch was installed at the factory.
And for twenty-two years, every president reached for it. Clinton. Bush. Obama. Every six months. On schedule.
Not disobedience, class. Just a bipartisan agreement to never arrive.
Now here’s the part I could have hidden from you.
Trump signed that waiver too.
Twice, in 2017. Picked up the same pen every man before him picked up.
And then he stopped.
They signed it as a destination. He signed it as a delay.
The embassy opened in Jerusalem on May 14, 2018. Seventy years to the day.
🏈 IN THE RED ZONE — HE BROKE THE WALL.
Ever since Oslo, the foreign-policy priesthood of this country preached one catechism, red and blue, without variation:
No more Arab peace with Israel until the Palestinian question is settled first.
That was the wall. Egypt got through in ‘79. Jordan in ‘94. And then the door slammed for a generation.
He walked around it.
The UAE. Bahrain. Morocco. The first Gulf Arab states in history to do it.
He didn’t solve the wall.
He proved the wall was never real.
🚩 NOW READ ME THE PENALTIES
Class — I read the whole board. Even the ugly part.
The swamp? Still standing. Not drained. Not close.
The debt? Still a millstone around your children’s necks — and I’ll say so on this program until the day I die.
The trade deal? Kept more of NAFTA’s bones than I’d like.
Sudan? Signed the Accords and stalled out. Never ratified.
Was he perfect? No.
I just read the penalties out loud — on my OWN quarterback.
Now show me the man who’ll read them on his.
🏈 NOW LOOK AT THE BALL.
Sir — you told me the game was fixed.
And you were right about the league.
But you never once looked at the ball.
Roe is gone. The border is quiet. NAFTA is open. The embassy is in Jerusalem. And the Middle East map has names on it that no man alive expected to see.
Every one of those, the Uniparty said was impossible.
Every one of them happened anyway.
Not far enough. Not fast enough. Not clean.
But it MOVED — and a field doesn’t lie.
You told me both teams were the same.
Then explain the yardage.
Explain why every institution in that machine — both parties, the press, the bureaucracy, the courts — converged on one man, again and again, for different reasons, with the same result.
Sir, you thought the machine was your closing argument.
IT WAS MINE.
Because when the whole machine hates one man in unison —
you have not disproved the polarity.
YOU HAVE JUST MEASURED IT.
So get back on the field. Put on the jersey.
Because while you’re standing at midfield with your arms folded, explaining to the whole stadium how the game is rigged —
the other team is scoring.
Write it down.
And Now You Know… THE BEST of the Story.
